Decorating With Branches

My inspiration for today is branches, in all its beautiful natural shapes and sizes. Branches are one of my favourite DIY materials to use for projects, because they are beautifully simple and they are free.

There are many ways in which you could incorporate branches into your home decor. Branches could be used as shelves, hooks for clothing or even as decorative art when mounted to the wall.

Recycled Wine Box

A few weeks ago I carved out little shapes in an old wine box and used it as a lamp shade. It turned out really nice and was a cute little corner light for a dinner party I had.

I have since decided to give the box to my little bunnies, as they love not only being able to hide in it, but also love chewing and decorating the box themselves.

This post is just a reminder that you can make cute things out of recyclable material. So think twice before you throw out any boxes!

DIY Elephant Hand Warmer

It is starting to slowly get colder here in Europe, so I decided to make little elephant hand warmers for around the house. As my hands always seem to have the hardest time adjusting to the cold. 

Not only are the mini elephant warmers cute, but are practical too! 

All you have to do to make these little elephant hand warmers is:

1) Cut out two elephant shapes, from the material of choice.

2) Start sewing them together, but remember to leave a little area open 

3) Using a funnel, pour rice into the elephant and sew shut

4) Lastly add little ears and eyes

To warm the elephants, place in a microwave for no more than 2 mins!

DIY Abstract Art

A fun DIY project for your home is making your own abstract art piece. That way you can be very specific and personal. My only advise is keep it simple and in line with the apartment theme. 

This home project was made using tape, to create the different yet slightly symmetrical shapes: 

Decorative Stones

Recently I have noticed a trend in using stones or pebbles at home, as decoration. Many stones are painted on, in a beautiful pattern, others have messages on them and some are even being used to label herbs in the garden.

I love this idea because not only are stones easy to work with and are strong and durable, but stones also have a zen to them, creating a peaceful atmosphere in the home.

Decorating stones and pebbles is also a fun project for kids and are a great gift to grandma.

Green Thai Curry

Last night I had Green Thai Curry and like always it was delicious.  Each bite was a perfect balance of silky smooth, fragrant, salty, sour and spicy.

One of the best parts of making thai curry, is that it is easy to make and is a sure winner every time. You can use chicken or fish, make it vegetarian or use tofu and you can use vegetables that are to your liking. It is a great dish for two or even for the whole family.

Ingredients:

• Chicken
• Green Curry Paste
• Coconut milk
• Lemon Grass
• Lime
• Garlic, Chilli and Ginger
• Vegetables ( I used Mushrooms, baby corn, tomatoes)
• Salt and Pepper and other spices to your liking

Blue and Pink Wedding

I adore the idea of having tiffany blue and pink as the colour schemes for a wedding. The colours not only represent the union of love between a man and a woman, but also complement each other seamlessly and beautifully.

The colour scheme works perfectly if you are dreaming of a glamorous hollywood theme, or even for a more delicate vintage style.

Blueberry Muffins

I recently visited my grandmother and she made this amazingly moist and delicious blueberry cake. The cake tasted a lot like muffins, so I decided to remake them and they turned out great.

They are so tasty and only take about 30 mins. A great recipe for busy mornings!

Ingredients:

• 100g Flour
• 100g Butter
• 100g Sugar 
• 2 Eggs
• 1 Tsp of baking soda
• handful of blueberries (you can also use any other berry or even plums)
